BÁNH BY LAUREN
42 Market Street | @banhbylauren
Lauren Tran’s Bánh by Lauren brings a modern Vietnamese twist to the NYC pastry scene. Her dreamy creations—think lychee raspberry macarons, steamed rice cakes, and pandan coconut chiffon cake—are deeply rooted in tradition but always full of surprise. Lauren started her bakery concept as a pop-up during the pandemic and opened her brick and mortar last year, which has had a line out the door ever since!
ELBOW BREAD
1 Ludlow Street | @elbowludlow
Zoë Kanan is breaking—and baking—new ground on the Lower East Side with Elbow Bread, her modern twist on Jewish comfort carbs. Think barley tea bialys, schmaltzy scallion pockets, and croissant-level challah honey buns. Don’t sleep on the sweet potato pretzels, already a cult fave.

FROM LUCIE

Lucie Franc de Ferriere’s cakes are what garden dreams are made of—whimsical, romantic, and beautifully adorned with fresh flowers. At her sunny East Village shop, the French-born baker serves up seasonal bakes that feel like little works of art. Whether it’s a lemon olive cake with lavender swiss meringue buttercream or her gluten-free carrot cake with fromage frais, everything at From Lucie is almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

HANI'S
67 Cooper Square | @hanisbakerynyc
New Yorkers are obsessed with this modern American bakery that opened last fall. It's the brainchild of Miro Uskokovic, who worked in pastry at Gramercy Tavern for a decade, and his wife, Shilpa Uskokovic, an editor at Bon Appétit. The bakery is named after Miro's mother, who was affectionately known as Hani (prounced like "honey"). You can expect to find decadent items like cookie butter monkey bread, shakshuka danish, pistachio tiramisu doughnuts, and hibiscus rose morning buns. Their menu changes often, so check out their Instagram for the latest and greatest treats.
LADURÉE
398 W Broadway | @ladureeus
The OG of pastel perfection, Ladurée is always a must-visit. The SoHo outpost of the famous French brand brings Parisian elegance to NYC, thanks to the lovely interiors and a pastry case filled with macarons in flavors like rose, pistachio, and sea salt caramel. Bonus: the dreamy tea salon and garden make it the ultimate spot for an afternoon treat.

Strawberry yuzu mille crêpes, pandan chiffon, and black sesame mochi cake? Yes, please! Lady Wong was founded by Seleste Tan and Mogan Anthony, who are bringing Southeast Asian flavors to the pastry case in the coolest way possible. Their sleek East Village spot blends tradition, innovation, and just the right amount of nostalgia.
