Alison Roman is the patron saint of cool folks who love to cook. She spent time at Milk Bar, working under Christina Tosi, then transitioned into food media with a job at Bon Appétit. Last year, she published her debut cookbook, Dining In, and immediately found a fan base that loved her unique approach to no-fuss, flavor-packed dishes. Samin Nosrat, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat author and Netflix star, describes the book as “a treasure map.” After publication, Alison’s recipe for Salted Chocolate Chunk Shortbread Cookies went viral, becoming the baked good of the season and a serious contender for Best Cookie Ever. Alison is busy at work on her next cookbook and shares her writing and recipes via a column for The New York Times. A talented Tweeter, she recently shared this nugget: “I am so fucking sick of women cookbook authors being referred to [as] Domestic Goddesses and men cookbook authors being referred to as Experts.” Noted.
