Charlotte Druckman

The Write Stuff

What led to the explosion of food and feminism we’ve been experiencing for the past several years? It’s hard to pinpoint one thing, but journalist and author Charlotte Druckman’s influential 2012 book, Skirt Steak: Women Chefs on Standing the Heat and Staying in the Kitchen, was certainly a factor. Charlotte conducted more than 70 interviews with women on the culinary scene and it was an honest and searing (pun intended) look at the challenges faced by even the top names in the industry. Charlotte, whose first cookbook, Stir, Sizzle, Bake, was released in 2016, has been busy these days with other book projects. Abrams will publish her “somewhat unconventional anthology” about women and food in fall 2019 and her second cookbook, Kitchen Remix, will be published in early 2020. Charlotte is also the creator and co-founder of Food52’s Tournament of Cookbooks, known to many in the publishing world as The Piglet.
