Jamie Malone electrified the Minneapolis food scene with the opening of Grand Cafe, her long-awaited restaurant that manages to be elegant, modern, timeless, and relaxed all at once. She’s at it again with her latest project, Eastside, a women-led cafe in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. “While the Grand Cafe is a hopeless romantic, Eastside is her edgier sister,” she told us. Jamie, who started working in restaurants at the age of 16, has always had a life that revolved around food. She grew up cooking and baking bread with her dad in St. Paul, Minnesota. Before receiving her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu, she traveled and studied extensively in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and Europe, immersing herself in each region's cuisine.
