Sara Kramer and Sarah Hymanson are the forward-thinking chefs behind Los Angeles hot spot Kismet. The mission statement for their restaurant? “Kismet is a neighborhood spot dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive space in service of its dynamic community.” The two cooked together in New York City, left for the sunnier weather and better produce, and earned raves for their modern, Middle Eastern-influenced cuisine, natural wine list, and enlightened service. The restaurant charges guests 20 percent as a way to provide equitable wages for their entire staff. “Service,” as they note, “is provided by the entire restaurant team.” Kismet fans will be excited to know the duo is working on a new concept, Kismet Rotisserie, set to open next year.
