Emily and Melissa Elsen
Emily and Melissa Elsen are sisters and the founders of Four & Twenty Blackbirds pie bakery. They were born and raised in the rural farm town of Hecla, South Dakota, where their mother and aunts owned the popular Calico Kitchen cafe. Taking inspiration from their family’s culinary traditions, Emily and Melissa developed a passion for seasonal ingredients and a creative zeal for flavor combinations. Four & Twenty Blackbirds now has three locations in Brooklyn: a pie shop, a production kitchen, and a 10-seat pie counter and bar.
