Nicole Ponseca opened the New York restaurants Maharlika in 2011 and Jeepney in 2012. Her James Beard-nominated cookbook, I AM A FILIPINO, was released in 2018 and covers the many facets and often complicated history of Filipino food. I AM A FILIPINO was named one of the best cookbooks of the year by a wide range of outlets, from The New Yorker to Amazon.
