Freelance Writer

 

  • Position: Writer
  • Employment Type: Freelance
  • Reports to: Founder & Chief Content Creator
  • Location: New York City
  • Compensation: Up to 30 hours/week, with minimum one day per week in the NYC office. Hourly rate starts at $30/hour, or based on experience.
 
Position overview
Cherry Bombe is looking for a Freelance Writer to join our team.
 
Qualifications
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • A deep knowledge base regarding women, food, and culture; a keen news sense; good people skills; creativity and the ability to generate and pitch ideas; and the ability to turn around copy in a timely manner. Candidate must be flexible and open to feedback.
  • Candidate must have 2+ years experience writing in a fast-paced online environment. A writing and editing test will be required.
 
Responsibilities
    • Write copy for all Cherry Bombe platforms, including website, Substack, social, podcasts, magazine, advertorials, sponsored content, and newsletters
    • Proofread copy for all Cherry Bombe platforms
    • Fact-checking
    • Edit the work of other team members, and work with them on their copy
    • Work closely with the founder and editorial team
    • Write and edit copy for marketing materials as needed
    • Help craft and execute a strong brand voice across all platforms
    • Stay up to date on industry news and personalities, cultural trends, and general news
    • Stay up to date on media and social media trends
 
Requirements
  • 2+ years experience in digital media
  • Extensive knowledge about the food world and the world of women and culinary creatives in food, drink, and hospitality
  • Ability to write and edit clean, concise copy in a timely manner
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently
  • Positive, collaborative attitude

Assistant to the Founder

Position overview
The Assistant to the Founder will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Cherry Bombe’s Founder and Chief Content Creator. This is a high-visibility position that requires exceptional organization, clear communication, discretion, and the ability to manage a dynamic mix of creative, administrative, and strategic responsibilities. As Cherry Bombe enters its next stage of growth, this role offers the opportunity to help shape strategic initiatives around profitable revenue diversification, with a specific focus on balancing product-driven and affiliate income alongside sponsorships.
 
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced, cross-functional media, startup, or creative environment
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Tech-savvy and systems-oriented; experience with Asana or similar project management tools a plus
  • Self-starter with strong follow-through who thrives in both independent and team-based work

Responsibilities
      •  
      • Inbox & Calendar Management
        • Manage Founder’s inbox daily; flag high-priority messages and ensure prompt follow-up
        • Maintain calendar hygiene, including managing RSVPs, scheduling, time blocking, travel time, and daily review

         

      • Administrative & Office Support
          • Process and manage all mail and deliveries at Cherry Bombe’s Water Street location
          • Book Founder’s travel and prepare detailed itineraries
          • Perform light office manager duties, including onboarding coordination, and event preparation
        •  
      • Cross-Functional Coordination
          • Maintain the Cherry Bombe cookbook release tracker and upload PDFs and related assets
        •  
      • Events & Community Engagement
          • Represent Cherry Bombe at select NYC industry and brand events
          • Manage RSVPs, guest lists, and communications for VIP events
          • Provide occasional on-site support during Cherry Bombe events as needed

      • Communications & Editorial Support
          • Oversee shared email aliases
          • Provide light copywriting support for internal and external communications, newsletters, promotional materials, and presentations
 
This role is full-time with benefits and for NYC-based candidates only. You will be required to work in our NYC office at least three days a week. Salary range is $60k–$65k annually, depending on experience.

Cherry Bombe is looking for an Associate Manager, Partnerships & Events to support our Partnerships team and help bring our collaborations and events to life across our media, experiential, and digital platforms.
 
This role is ideal for someone who’s plugged into culture, tuned into market trends, and excited by what makes Cherry Bombe distinct—our point of view, our community, our live events, and our passionate audience. You’re a creative, highly organized multitasker who’s comfortable moving between internal teams and external partners, and who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where storytelling, hospitality, and execution all intersect.

Responsibilities
Across all Partnership Programs, candidate will:
    • Maintain the Sold Partnerships Tracker, keeping deliverables, timelines, and campaign status up to date, and reporting progress on a weekly cadence
    • Monitor campaign performance throughout each program’s lifecycle; summarize results, analyze outcomes, and share insights and recommendations with internal teams and partners
    • Create and maintain Partner Workbooks for all external partners, housing deliverables, deadlines, and live dates in one clear, organized place
    • Manage print timelines and coordinate the collection of all partner print assets
    • Submit partnership invoices for payment and support budget tracking across programs
    • Lead the creation of post-campaign wrap reports, ensuring they are approved and delivered to partners in a timely manner (approximately 10 business days post-campaign)
    • Support the CMO with pre-sale materials, including custom proposals, media plans, and media kit updates
    • Support the planning and execution of sponsored events, including NYC-based events and occasional travel for events outside New York as needed

 
For Select Partnership Programs (Scope Determined by Manager):
  • Create kickoff decks and lead client kickoff meetings, with guidance and support from your manager
  • Build and manage internal project boards in Asana, organizing all relevant documents and timelines for internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for both clients and internal teams on assigned programs, ensuring seamless communication and execution
  • Facilitate a smooth creative process by managing timelines, coordinating feedback, trafficking approved assets, and keeping campaigns on track from kickoff through completion
 
Requirements

    • Based in New York City
    • 3–5 years of experience managing media campaigns in a client-facing role at a publisher or media brand
    • Must be available to attend Cherry Bombe events, including evenings and occasional weekends, as required by the role.
    • Strong understanding of the media landscape, including custom branded content, social media, print, and event sponsorships
    • Clear, confident communicator who collaborates effectively with advertising partners, internal teams, and external vendors
