Before starting Vintner’s Daughter, April spent eight years at the helm of her family’s Napa Valley winery, Gargiulo Vineyards. She launched Vintner’s Daughter in 2013 with a single game-changing product, Active Botanical Serum. It quickly became a word of mouth, cult favorite among editors, beauty enthusiasts, skincare professionals and made Vintner’s Daughter one of the most coveted and beloved skincare brands. In January of 2023, she launched her third product in ten years, Active Renewal Cleanser, nearly four years in the making. This game-changing cleanser joins the brand's two other beloved performance-driven and award-winning products, Active Treatment Essence and Active Botanical Serum—creating the most comprehensive and results-focused three-step routine for ultimate skin health and radiance. She led the brand to their recent B Corp certification–a designation awarded to a small list of companies around the world meeting the highest standards of social and environmental action. In addition, the company has always been Carbon Neutral, Platinum Green Certified, and certified cruelty-free through the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Program. Since the brand’s inception, she has committed 2% of all revenue to charities benefiting women, children and the environment.

She resides in San Francisco and Napa Valley with husband and fellow entrepreneur, Mitch Lowe (also her CEO), and her two young daughters.
