MEET THE CO-OWNER: TINA VORA

Tina Vora, alongside her husband and Tamasha co-owner Mike Kathrani, is the visionary behind Tamasha Modern Indian, the award-winning restaurant redefining Indian cuisine in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her meticulous eye for luxury is evident in Tamasha’s opulent interiors and refined dining experience, crafted alongside Michelin-experienced Executive Chef Bhavin Chhatwani, a 2025 James Beard Award semifinalist for “Emerging Chef.”

A true reflection of its name – meaning “grand performance” in Hindi – Tamasha was named among OpenTable & PEOPLE Magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful Restaurants in America.” Drawing upon India’s rich cultural heritage, Tina has created a design that seamlessly blends elegance with traditional Indian opulence, setting the stage for Tamasha’s modern take on regional Indian flavors.

Originally from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Tina made her mark in the corporate world at a prestigious investment banking firm in Boston before moving to North Carolina. A creative force and serial entrepreneur, she owns the top-rated Tina Vora Salon & Spa, the Tina Vora luxury handbag brand, and plays a key role in a high-profile IT management consulting firm. With an unwavering passion for excellence, Tina—alongside Mike—continues to elevate North Carolina’s design, dining, and business landscape.

ABOUT TAMASHA

Indian-American entrepreneurs Mike Kathrani and Tina Vora, with Michelin-trained chef Bhavin Chhatwani, are redefining Indian cuisine at Tamasha Modern Indian, which opened in February 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina. With its elevated menu reflecting India’s vast regional cuisines, luxurious interior design, and polished service, Tamasha has introduced a new Indian dining destination in America.

Mike and Tina, who hail from Gujarat and Mumbai, set out to celebrate their heritage and the rich diversity of regional Indian cuisine in a glamorous, contemporary setting. Since opening, the James Beard Foundation named Executive Chef Bhavin Chhatwani an “Emerging Chef” semifinalist; OpenTable and People Magazine recognized it as one of the “50 Most Beautiful Restaurants in America;” Plate Magazine heralded Chhatwani as one of 10 “Chefs to Watch” in the U.S.; Eater praised it as “Essential;” and Raleigh Magazine named it among the “Best Restaurants” of 2024.
